Joelle D’Fontaine transformed a challenging childhood marked by homelessness and time in the care system into a beacon of creative success.

Today, he stands as a self-made luminary in the realms of dance, choreography, and movement direction. As the founder of At Your Beat studios in London and New York, Joelle has pioneered a global movement that merges dance with fitness, making it inclusive and accessible to diverse communities.

His journey in the creative world extends to fashion and entertainment, where he has left a distinct mark through collaborations with top-tier brands like Sophia Webster, Puma, Google, Instagram, Roland Mouret, and ASOS. In addition, as a Nike Well Collective Coach, Joelle has modelled for the brand and played a pivotal role in directing various Nike campaigns.

Music intertwines deeply with Joelle’s craft. He has orchestrated captivated performances and music videos for celebrated artists such as Rina Sawayama and Mø. His choreography is not just a visual spectacle but a manifestation of accessible artistry. Further, his work with Warner Brothers Music and Island Records in promoting artists like Ariana Grande, Sean Paul, and Rita Ora underscores his versatility and influence in the industry.

Beyond his commercial success, Joelle is a passionate advocate for youth, especially in his home region of South East London. Dubbed a ‘Social Disruptor,’ he works extensively with Southwark Council and is a key member of Southwark Stands Together. His efforts focus on combating gentrification and maintaining the cultural and socio-economic fabric of the area.

At the core of his mission is At Your Beat, through which Joelle empowers young people using dance. He engages with students from diverse economic backgrounds and those with Special Educational Needs in schools across London. His workshops promote confidence, resilience, and anti-bullying, harnessing dance’s transformative power. Joelle envisions a future where dance and movement are integral to education, nurturing creativity, physical health, and emotional wellness.
